I immigrated to Canada in 2003 from the Philippines, went to school in Richmond, and then completed a 2-year diploma at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Mechatronics. I landed an interview at General Fusion for a technician position. I thought I had completely failed the interview but received a job offer two weeks later. As I read it, I couldn’t help but cheer at the top of my lungs just as a bus drove by with many people staring! Thus, my journey at General Fusion began. While working at General Fusion, I completed my bachelor’s in technology at night school, moving from a technician/technologist to a full-fledged engineer. By some miracle, I am now an engineering manager.
My most memorable moment at General Fusion was our Plasma Compression Shot 17! It was the last plasma compression shot we did in the field, and it was eight agonizing days working until darkness to get the shot we wanted. We were exhausted, and then, on day eight at noon in the control center, we heard the compression and celebrated! It was the teamwork and camaraderie that kept us together.
Bodybuilding is my hobby, but not the crazy side of it. I focus on improving myself, and the gym is one outlet for continuous improvement.
