I am one of the rare people born and raised in North Vancouver. I completed a degree in mechatronics engineering at Simon Fraser University. Having worked at other tech start-ups here, I always kept an eye on General Fusion, but most roles seemed related to physics. So, when the recruiter called me, I jumped at the opportunity to join the team and help solve the challenge of fusion!

There have been many memorable moments at General Fusion, and they regularly happen as we continue to overcome the challenges related to fusion. I live a busy life but can often find myself daydreaming about a design problem. I have had countless eureka moments come to me lying in bed or even in the shower! Our first shot of Prototype 0 – a small-scale compression test bed for our LM26 machine – required a big push to quickly design, procure, assemble, and commission the machine. Firing up the machine for the first time was a wonderful mix of relief, pride, and satisfaction.

I love the mountains, so most of my free time is spent mountain biking, trail building, and skiing. I also play soccer and inline hockey. I’ve always got DIY projects on the go, with one of my most recent being building a custom e-bike that I use to commute from North Vancouver to Richmond.
